Who knew you’d be marrying the person you got to know just a week before graduation?! Nicole and Jonathan did just that! After hearing some funny stories during their reception from friends and family, I came to realize how much ‘fate’ plays a big part in our lives. Funny how life works, huh? We started the day with them getting ready at One King West Hotel, officially tied the knot at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, had their portrait session at the beautiful grounds of the Aga Khan Museum, and finally had their wedding reception celebrated at the urban-industrial & lofty Eglinton West Gallery.

Rustic Fairytale Engagement at a magical TreeHouse

Sometimes, fairy tales do come true! Marionne Dae & Kyle stumbled upon this gorgeous whimsical treehouse about an hour east from Toronto and invited me to come hang out with them….and boy was I stoked!!! It sure looks like something out of a story book — literally! It features a full bathroom, kitchen, living room and a cozy 3rd floor bedroom loft! Imagining what walking into something like this would’ve felt like if I was 7 years old….this would’ve been so surreal! They played some board games, exercised their legs with some paddle boating and played catch. Working up an appetite, they took some time and prepared a pretty epic bbq picnic dinner, sat down in the middle of the forest and enjoyed a wonderful meal!

Many thanks to you both for bringing me along to play in this magical tree house in the woods! My warmest congratulations on your engagement! I can’t wait to capture your wedding day!

A celebration through traditions at the Royal Ambassador

A wedding with no ceremony — a first in my books! This really gave me a different perspective on what a wedding is. In its core, it is a celebration of two people coming together as one. From beginning to end, this Palestinian-Korean wedding had celebration splashes all throughout! I just loved seeing all their respective traditions throughout the day, especially the cultural performance by the Sooriana Dabke group, in which they joyfully escorted Abdul (the groom) down the street to pickup Emma (the bride) with drums and singing! The drums continued to their reception and both Emma and Abdul’s guests were treated later to a sword fight performance as well as a few traditional Korean musical performances. What a super entertaining wedding!

A relaxed Markham wedding at the tail end of Spring

When I first met Melissa and Justin, I knew just how sporty these two cats are! Looking at the super fun engagement shoot we had last winter, with those custom made soccer jerseys, I knew that flair didn’t end there! Justin made sure to rock some Manchester United cufflinks and Melissa, who is a big Toronto Raptors fan, even decided to also gift her husband some cool kicks as a wedding gift …ahhh yes! — only found in the mind of a true sports fan! And just like the couple’s super chill & relaxed personalities, needless to say, their wedding was just that too! To our surprise, everything was either running right on time or super early! I sure can’t remember the last time I experienced a super smooth wedding day!

An intimate wedding at The Loft

It always intrigues me how all my couples meet and both Heidi and Kevin met through the wonderful game of Ultimate Frisbee! I guess it’s true that sports really do bring people together! Sports may have started it, but their friendship continued to blossom with their love of travel and much to say, I too bonded with the both of them on our very first meeting since I too have a love for travel! Quite bold and daring, they even travelled all over Asia for a month while planning their wedding at the same time! They literally had 3 months to plan their wedding which most people thought they were crazy, but I have to say… they sure pulled it off! Kudos to you guys! My warmest congratulations to you both! Travel truly is a beautiful thing, so never stop exploring!

Here we are in one of the warmest days of February this year, Melissa and Justin actually got to wear sweaters instead of those thick jackets we’ve been wearing all winter long! And little did I know, they are also celebrating their 5th year anniversary of togetherness on this very day! I’m sure glad to have made it extra memorable by doing an engagement photo shoot for them on the exact date! Of course they couldn’t resist throwing some fun and injecting some of their personality by putting on some custom made soccer jerseys towards the end of the day!

A lively Jewish wedding at The Adelaide Hotel

If there is one thing that never ceases to amaze me with Jewish weddings, it’s that ENERGY level that they bring to the table! Despite running with very little sleep the night before, both Kayla and Michael put together quite the show for their guests! Let’s be honest, Jewish weddings are known for their high-energy dancing and I couldn’t wait for the all-famous Hora! Aside from your brain going a hundred miles an hour with the dance floor packed with high octane action, it’s always an amazing sight once they lift up the bride, groom and both sets of parents. Great food, great live music and great hugs from friends & family…what more can you ask for?! My warmest congratulations to you both! MAZEL TOV!!

A Filipino-Indian Wedding at Crystal Fountain

With Vanessa currently living in Calgary and Jeff living in Ottawa, I can only imagine how much work it was to put together a wedding in Toronto! But needless to say, if you have tons of great friends and family that can help you along the way, nothing is impossible! I also love it when I see two different cultures come together! Vanessa who has a Filipino background and Jeff who has an Indian background, made sure to inject some of their respective traditions onto their wedding day! From their native practices during their wedding ceremony…all the way to the reception, when Vanessa slipped into that GORGEOUS Indian dress! It was one heck of a party they threw, considering they planned it all remotely!

A BIG surprise at the Roseville Estate

Getting back to familiar grounds…here we are back at the beautiful Roseville Estate in Cambridge, Ontario! It was also quite a surprise to see how much the place changed with some great improvements and renovations. But surely, that’s nothing compared to the BIG surprise Lauren and Justin had in store for all their friends and family! Excitement simply was brewing all day long and coming up to the end of the evening was their big speech — they have just announced to everyone that they were pregnant!….with TWINS!! Not one, but two bundles of joy on the way!! I’ve seen many happy endings to a wedding day, but this one felt like it ended with some amazing fireworks across the room, as every single face was simply lit with JOY!!

An Elegant Luncheon Wedding at the Auberge du Pommier

Underrated but still quite memorable, lunch weddings are a great way to have a stress-free wedding day! When Velda and Darren told me they were celebrating their big day at the Auberge du Pommier restaurant for a luncheon wedding, I knew just how relaxed these two were gonna be!! Starting the day with an intimate ceremony at the restaurant’s patio, followed by some cocktails and finished off with an amazing french meal! Simplicity at its best! We then headed over to St. Edward Catholic school nearby, which is where both Velda and Darren go often to run sprints and throw frisbees! They also brought a little snack with them, just in case they got hungry afterwards — their wedding cake! What better way to cap off the day by throwing frisbees and eating cake!!

Every couple I meet will surely want a relaxed, stress-free wedding day. I guarantee you, a lunch wedding will be as stress free as it gets!!
